Sri Lanka FinTech Festival 2026 to position Sri Lanka as emerging digital finance hub

Sri Lanka is preparing to strengthen its presence in the regional digital finance sector with the launch of the inaugural Sri Lanka FinTech Festival 2026, scheduled to take place in Colombo on November 2 and 3.

Organised by the Fintech Forum Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy, the two-day event was announced at a press conference held at Amari Colombo. The organisers also introduced the official website for the festival during the event.

The Sri Lanka FinTech Festival 2026 is designed to bring together stakeholders from the country’s growing fintech and digital finance ecosystem while creating stronger connections between local businesses and developments in regional and international financial technology.

Organisers expect the festival to encourage greater cooperation between the public and private sectors, increase international visibility for Sri Lankan fintech companies and create new opportunities for engagement with global digital finance markets.

Sri Lanka has developed a growing digital financial infrastructure in recent years, and the festival will provide a platform for showcasing these capabilities while examining how the country can participate in the next stage of financial innovation.

The programme will focus on four main themes: the future of fintech; building unicorns and modernisation; sustainable and inclusive fintech; and security and fraud.

Sessions throughout the festival will explore the role of technology, regulation, policy and innovation in developing a digital finance ecosystem that is competitive, inclusive, resilient and secure.

Among the subjects expected to feature prominently are national digital finance policies and regulations, regulatory sandboxes, digital assets, cross-border payments and remittances, artificial intelligence in financial services, tokenisation, digital public infrastructure and digital identity.

The programme will also address financial inclusion, financing solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises and payment technologies supporting the tourism industry. These discussions reflect the expanding role of digital finance in improving access to financial services and supporting economic activity.

The festival will begin on November 2 with CEOs Night, an invitation-only event bringing together senior executives from the banking and fintech sectors. Members of the Fintech Forum Board and Advisory Committee, speakers, government representatives and officials from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka are also expected to attend.

The main Sri Lanka FinTech Expo will take place on November 3, with more than 500 participants expected to attend the full-day programme.

The expo will feature keynote presentations, expert panel discussions and a FinTech and Solution Provider Exhibition. The exhibition will provide technology companies and solution providers with an opportunity to present their products and services to industry leaders, prospective partners and other participants within the digital finance ecosystem.

The two-day festival will conclude with FinTech Night, a networking reception bringing together participants and invited guests.

For businesses operating in financial technology, the festival is expected to provide opportunities to understand emerging technologies, assess market developments, engage directly with policymakers and industry leaders, explore new solutions and establish commercial relationships.

Policymakers and regulators will also have an opportunity to gain insights from industry stakeholders while discussing the future direction of Sri Lanka’s digital finance sector.

The organisers believe that bringing together fintech companies, financial institutions, technology providers, government representatives, regulators and investors will help strengthen collaboration across the sector.

The inaugural Sri Lanka FinTech Festival is ultimately expected to play a role in increasing international awareness of the country’s fintech capabilities and supporting Sri Lanka’s ambition to emerge as a regional hub for digital finance.
