Sathis Abeywickrama, Managing Director of Flexiprint (Pvt) Ltd, has been recognised as a ‘Flexo Avenger’ at Flexo Summit Asia 2026, held recently in Bengaluru, India.
The ‘Flexo Avenger’ recognition is presented to individuals who have made a notable contribution to the advancement of flexographic printing. Abeywickrama was featured during the summit’s “Flexo Avengers: Converters who Changed the Game” session, alongside prominent figures from the regional flexographic printing industry.
Speaking about the recognition, Abeywickrama said receiving the honour was a significant achievement and reflected more than four decades of commitment to innovation, customer service and the development of specialised printing solutions.
He noted that the company’s journey began at a time when Sri Lanka’s export industries, particularly the tea sector, depended heavily on overseas suppliers for specialised packaging products such as tea bag tags and related materials.
Abeywickrama entered the printing industry in 1978 and established PrintUSA in 1989. In 1994, he founded Flexiprint with the objective of addressing the growing packaging requirements of Sri Lanka’s tea export industry.
The company initially focused on producing specialised products including tea bag tags, tea envelopes, tagged pyramid mesh tea bags and specialty labels. Over the years, its work has contributed to the development of specialised packaging solutions for the local export sector.
Abeywickrama’s recognition at Flexo Summit Asia 2026 highlights his long-standing contribution to the flexographic printing industry and reflects the evolution of Sri Lanka’s specialised packaging sector over several decades.
The ‘Flexo Avengers’ session brought together industry leaders whose work has helped shape the development of flexographic printing and converting across Asia, providing recognition for individuals who have played a significant role in advancing the industry.
