Sri Lanka is preparing to welcome more than 500 young leaders from across South East Asia for the SEARIC Summit 2026, which will take place from 11 to 13 September 2026 at the Pegasus Reef Hotel.
The three-day event will mark the first occasion on which Sri Lanka hosts the flagship regional gathering of the South East Asia Rotaract Information Centre (SEARIC). The summit is being hosted by Rotaract in Rotary International District 3220 (RID 3220), representing Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
Delegates from six countries are expected to participate in the summit, which will provide a platform for leadership development, professional learning, cultural exchange, networking and collaboration among young people involved in the Rotaract movement.
SEARIC functions as a regional network connecting Rotaract districts across South East Asia. Its work focuses on encouraging cooperation, sharing information, strengthening cultural understanding and facilitating joint initiatives among Rotaractors throughout the region.
The annual SEARIC Summit serves as the organisation’s principal regional gathering, bringing together Rotaractors and Rotarians for knowledge-sharing, fellowship, cultural experiences and collaborative initiatives.
The 2026 summit will be held under the theme “The Role of Technology in the Future of Careers and Services.” The programme will examine how rapidly developing technologies are reshaping employment, professional development, leadership and community service.
As artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies continue to transform workplaces and industries, the summit will encourage young leaders to consider how they can prepare for changes in the future of work while also using technology to improve the way communities are supported.
Over the three days, participants will take part in leadership and professional development programmes, panel discussions, networking activities, cultural experiences and community-focused initiatives. The central theme of technology and its impact on careers and service will be incorporated throughout the programme.
The summit is also expected to contribute to Sri Lanka’s growing profile as a destination for international conferences, youth programmes and regional events. With hundreds of international participants travelling to the country, the gathering provides an opportunity to showcase Sri Lanka’s hospitality, culture and capacity to host large-scale international programmes.
The event will additionally create opportunities for Rotaractors from South East Asia to establish connections with their Sri Lankan counterparts, exchange ideas and identify potential areas for future cross-border projects and partnerships.
