Total operating income stood at Rs.1,499 million, reflecting stability across the bank’s core banking operations.
HDFC Bank recorded a profit after tax of Rs.105 million for the six-month period. The bank’s profit before tax (PBT) increased by 85 percent year-on-year, with disciplined cost management supporting the improvement in overall profitability compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The bank also maintained a strong financial position, with total assets amounting to Rs.63.2 billion. Its total capital ratio stood at 32.05 percent, remaining well above the applicable regulatory requirements and providing a strong capital position to support its operations.
Liquidity levels also remained robust during the period, with the bank recording a liquidity coverage ratio of 203 percent. Meanwhile, its net interest margin stood at 4.30 percent, while return on equity improved to 2.75 percent.
These indicators reflect the bank’s continued focus on maintaining financial resilience while strengthening its capacity to support sustainable growth and long-term value creation.
HDFC Bank operates with a diversified ownership structure, with 51 percent of its shareholding held by the National Housing Development Authority and other government entities, while the remaining 49 percent is held by corporate and individual investors.
As a development-focused financial institution, HDFC Bank has played an important role in supporting low- and middle-income earners in achieving home ownership. Over the years, the bank has also expanded beyond its traditional housing finance focus to become a more diversified financial institution serving a broad customer base.
Its customer segments range from low-income communities to high-net-worth individuals, supported by an expanding portfolio of financial products and services. The bank also maintains a branch network covering all districts of Sri Lanka, enabling it to serve customers across the country.
The first-half performance reflects HDFC Bank’s continued efforts to strengthen its financial position, manage costs prudently and expand its role as a financial services provider while maintaining its longstanding focus on supporting housing and broader economic participation.
