Hermi Electric launches long-range EVs in Sri Lanka

Global Hermi (Liaoning) Industrial Development Co., Ltd, the parent company of Hermi Electric, has launched what it says is Sri Lanka’s longest-range electric three-wheeler and electric bike at competitive prices.

The Chinese manufacturer said both vehicles can travel up to 400 kilometres on a single charge. The company also announced plans to introduce new models with a driving range of up to 600 kilometres in the near future.

Speaking at the launch, Hermi Electric Chairman Jerry Adrian said the company now offers four vehicle range options, from 80 kilometres to 400 kilometres, to meet different customer needs.

He added that Chinese engineers have returned to Sri Lanka to supervise the local assembly process, strengthening the company’s manufacturing operations in the country.

According to the company, the electric three-wheeler can be fully charged in about two hours, while the electric bike requires only 20 minutes for a full charge.

Hermi Electric is also expanding its after-sales network, with 15 service centres already operating across Sri Lanka.

The company is offering a five-year warranty covering both the lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery and vehicle parts.

The electric bikes are priced between Rs. 340,000 and Rs. 690,000, while the electric three-wheeler starts from Rs. 2.4 million.
