Pradeep Kahawalage has been re-elected as Chairman of the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) at its 65th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo, on 20 August.
Thilaka Jayasundara, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, attended the AGM as Chief Guest.
Kahawalage, who serves as Chief Executive Officer of Richardson Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, brings more than 15 years of active involvement with the CNCI to his role. During this period, he has served extensively on both the Executive Council and the Committee of Management. He also chaired the Internal Panel of Judges for the prestigious CNCI Achiever Awards for more than five consecutive years.
A Chartered Engineer by profession, Kahawalage holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
His professional qualifications also include Associate membership of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka, Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers and the Society of Structural Engineers, and Certified Membership of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing.
In addition to his leadership responsibilities at CNCI, Kahawalage serves on the Board of Directors of Ind-Expo Certification Limited and remains an active member of the PIM Alumni Association. Through his professional and industry roles, he continues to contribute to the development of industrial standards and economic growth in Sri Lanka.
The CNCI is celebrating its 66th anniversary this year, marking more than six decades of representing and supporting Sri Lanka’s industrial sector. Established in 1960, the Chamber was later incorporated through a special Act of Parliament, Act No. 10 of 1969, and remains the country’s oldest industrial chamber.
Addressing the gathering, Jayasundara highlighted the CNCI’s longstanding contribution to Sri Lanka’s industrial development. She commended the Chamber for helping bridge critical gaps within the industry while supporting innovation, market expansion and broader economic development.
Jayasundara also recognised the CNCI’s continued support for Sri Lanka’s industrial sector in recent years and extended her best wishes to Kahawalage and the newly elected office bearers as they take forward the Chamber’s work.
