At the GlobalHealth Sri Lanka Awards 2026, Lanka Hospitals was recognised with three major titles: Bariatric Service Provider of the Year in Sri Lanka, Sustainability and CSR Excellence Service Provider of the Year in Sri Lanka, and Medical Tourism Hospital of the Year in Sri Lanka.
The Bariatric Service Provider of the Year recognition highlights Lanka Hospitals’ position as a leading private healthcare provider for bariatric surgery in Sri Lanka. The hospital has performed the highest number of bariatric surgeries among private hospitals in the country and remains the only centre in Sri Lanka to have completed 450 successful weight loss procedures.
The achievement reflects the expertise of its multidisciplinary medical teams, consistent patient safety standards and continued focus on delivering positive and sustainable outcomes for patients undergoing weight-loss procedures.
The hospital’s recognition for Sustainability and CSR Excellence is supported by initiatives that extend its healthcare capabilities to communities in need. Through its Lanka Hospitals Suwa Sathkara programme, the hospital has provided medical interventions in response to public health requirements.
In partnership with the Rotary Clubs of Colombo Metropolitan and Colombo West, Lanka Hospitals facilitated 100 urgent heart surgeries for children, enabling them to receive essential cardiothoracic care without prolonged delays.
Following Cyclone Ditwah, the hospital also established medical clinics and treatment centres in affected areas, providing treatment and relief to communities whose access to healthcare had been disrupted. The initiatives demonstrate the hospital’s approach to translating corporate social responsibility into direct and meaningful healthcare support.
Meanwhile, the Medical Tourism Hospital of the Year award recognises Lanka Hospitals’ ability to provide international patients with access to advanced medical treatments, experienced clinical teams and coordinated support throughout their healthcare journey.
The recognition also reflects the confidence the hospital has built among international patients through its focus on consistent service standards, medical expertise, infrastructure and technology.
Lanka Hospitals subsequently received further recognition at the National Business Excellence Awards 2026, where it was named Joint Winner in the Healthcare, Hospital Sector and Joint 2nd Runner Up in the Overall Large Category.
These honours recognise the organisation not only for its healthcare performance but also for its broader approach to leadership, governance, operational effectiveness and sustainable business management.
Commenting on the recognitions, Dr. R. P. Sanjaya Ratnayake, Group Chief Executive Officer of Lanka Hospitals, said, “We are proud of this momentum, but our priority remains unchanged: to provide safe, high quality and patient centred care, while continuing to strengthen the expertise, technology and systems that make better outcomes possible.”
With five honours across healthcare, sustainability, medical tourism and business excellence, Lanka Hospitals is set to carry this momentum into its next phase of growth, with a continued focus on raising organisational standards and responding to the evolving expectations of its patients and wider communities.
