Shangri-La Colombo, one of Sri Lanka’s leading hotels in the tourism and hospitality sector, is set to bring the rich culinary traditions of Türkiye to the heart of Colombo through its ‘Flavours of Türkiye’ culinary festival. Organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Türkiye in Sri Lanka, the festival will take place at the hotel’s Central restaurant from 30 October to 7 November 2026.
Following the strong customer response and success of last year’s edition, the festival returns with another opportunity to experience authentic Turkish cuisine and culture. The event also serves as a platform to further strengthen the cultural and economic ties between Sri Lanka and Türkiye.
Adding a special touch to this year’s culinary celebration, four renowned chefs from Türkiye, Ali Taşpınar, Caner Dolu, Mehmet Erdoğan and Feyzullah Kalkan, will join the culinary team at Shangri-La Colombo. Bringing their expertise and extensive professional experience, the chefs will introduce guests to the traditional flavours and distinctive culinary heritage of Türkiye.
Presented as a dinner buffet at Central, the festival will feature an enticing selection of Turkish delicacies. Guests can savour creamy hummus and a variety of mezze, crisp börek pastries filled with savoury ingredients, freshly prepared and aromatic kebabs, and sweet baklava enriched with pistachios. The buffet will also showcase a range of other traditional Turkish dishes, offering guests an opportunity to explore the country’s diverse culinary traditions.

Complementing the food experience, traditional Turkish music will fill the evening with cultural charm. The combination of authentic cuisine, music and Shangri-La’s renowned hospitality is designed to create a memorable experience for guests.
Commenting on the festival, Andreas Streiber, General Manager of Shangri-La Colombo, said:
“We are delighted to successfully launch another edition of the ‘Flavours of Türkiye’ culinary festival. This year’s festival, featuring four distinguished chefs from Türkiye, offers guests the opportunity to experience first-hand the heritage behind each dish and the exceptional skills of these chefs. We look forward to bringing this special experience, blending music, culture and our signature hospitality, to the people of Sri Lanka.”
His Excellency Semih Lütfü Turgut, Ambassador of Türkiye to Sri Lanka, highlighted the cultural significance of Turkish hospitality, stating:

“In Turkish culture, inviting someone to share a meal is a profound symbol of friendship and affection. Through ‘Flavours of Türkiye’, we have the opportunity to share this heritage with the people of Sri Lanka through the hands of our chefs and the beauty of our music. I believe this cultural exchange will further strengthen the diplomatic and friendly relations between our two countries.”
The ‘Flavours of Türkiye’ culinary festival will be held daily at Central restaurant from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m., with the buffet priced at LKR 9,539 per person. The festival offers an exceptional opportunity for guests to discover the authentic flavours of Turkish cuisine in the heart of Colombo.
