Storex Renewables (Pvt) Ltd has launched SigenStor Neo, an integrated solar and battery storage solution from Sigenergy, in Sri Lanka, as the country’s rooftop solar sector moves towards the Net Plus scheme for new connections.
The shift follows the closure of Net Metering and Net Accounting for new applicants, increasing the importance of on-site battery storage for consumers seeking to maximise the use of solar power generated at their premises and manage energy costs.
With the changes to the available solar schemes, consumers are increasingly required to combine solar generation with storage capacity and rely more on the electricity generated and stored at their own premises. Storex Renewables, which has prior experience in implementing large-scale battery storage projects, has positioned SigenStor Neo as a solution for this changing market environment.
Sigenergy’s SigenStor Neo integrates the energy management system, inverter, battery and backup module into a single unit. The system can also be connected to existing solar installations, allowing homeowners and businesses already operating under Net Metering or Net Accounting to add battery storage without replacing their existing solar setup.
The battery is rated for 10,000 charge cycles, which the company describes as the highest count in the market. The system also carries an IP66 rating, providing protection against dust and weather exposure and making it suitable for Sri Lankan operating conditions.
The Sigenergy inverter is designed to support future expansion, allowing the system to scale alongside changing energy requirements. Unlike conventional battery-based solar systems where battery capacity may be difficult to upgrade at different stages, the SigenStor Neo solution enables additional capacity to be incorporated as demand grows.
The system also provides backup power with zero disruption to connected loads, while enabling electricity to be drawn efficiently from solar panels installed at different angles or orientations.
SigenStor Neo is available for both residential and commercial installations through leading installers including SOLAR THERM, AIRO Engineering and selected partners and resellers.
“We were looking for the best partner to distribute our products in Sri Lanka. We found that partner in Storex,” said Marvin Xiao, Regional Manager at Sigenergy.
Lasith Wimalasena, Director of Storex Renewables, said the company’s experience in renewable energy provided a strong foundation for introducing the new technology to the Sri Lankan market.
“As part of the Windforce PLC Family, we have over two decades of experience in renewable energy and have delivered the largest battery and solar projects in the market. SigenStor Neo will not be just another product on the shelf. It is a premium product integrated and genuinely easy to use, and that is what we are bringing to Sri Lankan homes and businesses,” he said.
Praboda Welagedera, Manager at Storex Renewables, highlighted the integrated nature of the system and its compatibility with existing solar installations.
“This is the only solution of its kind fully integrated with inverter, battery and solar, where customers have peace of mind in terms of installation or compatibility issues. It simply works with any existing solar installation as an internal capacity enhancement with battery storage that can also grow,” he said.
Storex Renewables (Pvt) Ltd is a Sri Lankan renewable energy company specialising in the trading of solar and battery storage systems. The company is a subsidiary of Windforce PLC, a renewable energy developer in Sri Lanka, and serves as the authorised master distributor for Sigenergy products in Sri Lanka.
