LOLC Life Assurance Ltd. has announced the appointment of its Chief Operating Officer (COO), Jayantha Kalinga, as the company’s Principal Officer, in addition to his existing executive responsibilities.
The appointment follows formal approval from the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL) and is expected to further strengthen the company’s leadership and governance framework as it continues to expand its presence in Sri Lanka’s life insurance sector.
Kalinga brings more than 35 years of experience across both the Life and General Insurance sectors. His professional expertise covers sales management, distribution network development, business growth and strategic planning. Over the course of his career with leading insurance institutions in Sri Lanka, he has built extensive experience in driving business performance, developing high-performing teams and creating customer-focused insurance solutions.
As COO of LOLC Life Assurance, Kalinga continues to oversee key operational and commercial strategies while supporting the company’s market development initiatives. His additional appointment as Principal Officer reflects the Board’s confidence in his leadership experience, operational knowledge and understanding of developments within the regional insurance industry.
Kalinga’s professional experience is complemented by an MBA from the University of Northampton in the UK and an academic background in Business Management. His professional qualifications include the Life Underwriter Training Council (LUTC) designation awarded by LIMRA, USA, as well as the Licentiate Examination from the Insurance Institute of India.
He has also participated in international insurance forums, broadening his exposure to global insurance practices and emerging industry trends.
The appointment comes at an important stage in LOLC Life Assurance’s growth as the company works to expand its market presence, strengthen value for stakeholders and provide financial protection solutions tailored to the needs of individuals and families across Sri Lanka.
