CDB Dominates 41st MAF Meet with Multiple Championship Wins

Colombo, Sri Lanka, 21 September 2026: Citizens Development Business Finance PLC (CDB) delivered a commanding performance at the 41st Mercantile Athletic Federation (MAF) Meet, held from 21 to 23 August at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Diyagama.

In a strong display of talent, teamwork and discipline, CDB secured the Men’s and Women’s Overall Championship titles as well as the Men’s Overall Novices Championship.

Competing against athletes from some of Sri Lanka’s leading mercantile organisations, CDB’s novices and senior athletes established a strong presence from the opening day of the competition.

Individual performances also earned major recognition. Shakila Wijesekara was named Best Athlete – Novices Men, while Umaya Rathnayake achieved a rare double by being named Best Athlete – Championship Women and Best Athlete – Women.

Team CDB finished fourth overall, bringing to a close a campaign built on months of disciplined training while athletes continued to fulfil their professional responsibilities within the organisation.

The achievement reflects CDB’s wider commitment to supporting employees in pursuing their interests and talents while maintaining strong professional performance.
