The Sri Lanka–Indonesia Business Council of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce held its third Annual General Meeting (AGM) recently, bringing together Council members and key stakeholders to review its activities and priorities for the year ahead. The AGM was attended by Dewi Gustina Tobing, Ambassador of Indonesia to Sri Lanka and Patron of the Council.
Delivering the keynote address, Ambassador Gustina Tobing provided an overview of Indonesia’s political and economic landscape, highlighting the country’s focus on strengthening economic independence, building sectoral resilience, improving public welfare and facilitating both inbound and outbound investment.
During the AGM, Sheamalee Wickramasingha, Chairman and Group Managing Director of Ceylon Biscuits Ltd., was re-elected as President of the Council for the 2026/2027 term.
Wickramasingha acknowledged the instrumental role played by Ambassador Gustina Tobing in the re-establishment of the Council and reflected on its key achievements during the past year. Among these was the successful Sri Lanka–Indonesia Business Delegation to Indonesia, which provided Sri Lankan businesses with opportunities to engage with Indonesian counterparts and explore potential avenues for commercial cooperation.
The Council’s new office bearers for 2026/2027 include Gerard Victoria, Director and CEO of North South Lines (Pvt) Ltd., who was appointed Senior Vice President; Ehantha Sirisena, Founder and Director of OMAK Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., who will serve as Vice President; and Marshad Barry, Deputy Head of Orphan Care and Institutional Marketing at Amana Bank, who will serve as Treasurer.
The Executive Committee for the new term also includes representatives from Aitken Spence Cargo (Pvt) Ltd., hSenid Business Solutions PLC, Solarray Energy (Pvt) Ltd., Haycarb PLC and MAS Intimates (Pvt) Ltd.
Vish Govindasamy of Sunshine Holdings PLC will continue to serve on the Council as Immediate Past President.
The AGM provided an opportunity for the Council to assess its progress while setting the direction for the coming year, with continued emphasis on strengthening business and economic ties between Sri Lanka and Indonesia and creating opportunities for greater engagement between the two countries’ business communities.
