David Pieris Group, one of Sri Lanka’s leading diversified business conglomerates, has taken another step towards strengthening standards and legal compliance across its supplier network by investing in the knowledge and development of its key product and service providers.
As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting responsible business practices, the Group organised a dedicated awareness programme on compliance and DPG Good Practices, bringing together nearly 70 owners and responsible representatives from outsourced service provider organisations.
With operations spanning multiple industries, David Pieris Group recognises the importance of maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and business partners to uphold high operational standards. The initiative was designed to enhance awareness, strengthen accountability and promote a shared culture of compliance, quality, safety and sustainability across its supplier network.
A key focus of the programme was to improve participants’ understanding of the legal, statutory, contractual and operational responsibilities associated with providing services to David Pieris Group. It also provided a common platform to communicate the Group’s expectations concerning compliance, quality, health and safety, environmental management, human resources, security, finance and administration, sustainability, and other workplace requirements.
The programme covered several essential areas, including labour laws and Wages Board requirements, contractors’ legal obligations, environmental and waste management, human resource practices, occupational health and safety, security requirements, Workmen’s Compensation Insurance (WCI), sustainability, and financial and administrative procedures.
In addition to the awareness sessions, a panel discussion offered participants an opportunity to raise important concerns, exchange experiences and discuss practical challenges related to workplace operations. The interactive session encouraged knowledge sharing and provided valuable insights into meeting operational requirements more effectively.
