DFCC Bank achieves ISO 22301:2019 certification

DFCC Bank has secured ISO 22301:2019 certification for its Business Continuity Management System (BCMS), strengthening its focus on operational resilience and the continued availability of critical banking services during unexpected disruptions.

The internationally recognised certification confirms that DFCC Bank’s business continuity framework aligns with global practices covering governance, risk management, contingency planning and organisational response.

The achievement represents another step in the bank’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its ability to anticipate, manage and recover from potential operational disruptions while safeguarding the interests of customers and other stakeholders.

ISO 22301:2019 is the internationally recognised standard for Business Continuity Management Systems. It provides organisations with a structured framework to identify potential threats, prepare for disruptive events and maintain essential operations during challenging circumstances.

For DFCC Bank, achieving the certification follows continued investment in business resilience, risk management and organisational preparedness. Its business continuity framework is designed to support teams in managing operational risks, coordinating responses and reducing the potential impact of unforeseen events on customers, employees and other stakeholders.

Kushan Jayasuriya, Senior Vice President, Integrated Risk Management and Chief Risk Officer at DFCC Bank, said banking services form an essential part of the daily activities of individuals, families and businesses, making service continuity an important responsibility.

He said the ISO 22301:2019 certification recognises the bank’s established business continuity framework and the collective efforts of teams across the organisation, while providing a foundation for further strengthening resilience as risks and operating conditions change.

The certification was achieved through a bank-wide effort to integrate business continuity principles into governance structures, strategic planning, operational processes and everyday decision-making.

The achievement also reflects DFCC Bank’s focus on maintaining a culture of preparedness and continuous improvement across its operations.

As the business and risk environment continues to evolve, DFCC Bank said it will continue to review, test and enhance its business continuity capabilities in accordance with international standards. These efforts are aimed at supporting reliable banking services while strengthening confidence among customers, regulators and other stakeholders.
