STC General targets wider institutional and consumer markets with three new product launches

Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation Ltd. (STC) has expanded its STC General product portfolio with the launch of a 65-inch Smart Board, an inverter air-conditioner and an instant electric hot-water shower, broadening its offering across digital technology and consumer electrical products.

The products were unveiled at a ceremony held at Marino Beach Hotel, Colombo, under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Co-operative Development R.M. Jayawardane and Deputy Minister of Co-operative Development Upali Samarasinghe. The event was attended by STC Chairman and Managing Director Ravindra Fernando, senior officials, institutional customers and employees.

The latest launch forms part of STC’s efforts to strengthen its own-brand portfolio and expand its presence across institutional and consumer markets. Technology and electrical products have become an increasingly important part of the Corporation’s business alongside its established trading and procurement operations.

The 65-inch STC General Smart Board features a 4K UHD display, 8GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, the Android 16 operating system and a 48MP built-in camera. Designed for educational institutions, training centres, meeting rooms and corporate environments, the Smart Board is intended to support interactive teaching, presentations and digital collaboration.

The STC General instant electric hot-water shower is available in 3.5kW and 4.5kW models. It features a silent DC booster pump for areas experiencing low water pressure, an LED temperature display, a built-in Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB), a manual reset thermostat and an IPX4 splash-proof casing.

The shower comes with a five-year warranty on the heater element and a two-year warranty on the system. Its introductory price is Rs. 44,990.

The STC General Inverter air-conditioner has been designed for household, commercial and institutional applications. Among its features is stabilizer-free operation designed to accommodate voltage fluctuations between 165V and 285V. Its Flexi 5-in-1 cooling function allows users to adjust cooling capacity according to room size and requirements.

The air-conditioner also incorporates an anti-mildew function that dries the evaporator coil to help limit bacterial growth. Other features include 100% copper tubing, corrosion protection for indoor and outdoor components, a filter-clean indicator, low refrigerant detection and multiple sensors designed to optimise performance.

A dry mode is also included to provide greater comfort during humid weather conditions.

Commenting on the launch, STC Chairman and Managing Director Ravindra Fernando said, “The expansion of the STC General range is part of our strategy to build a stronger own brand portfolio that responds to the requirements of both institutional and consumer markets. Our focus is on providing reliable products at competitive prices, backed by after-sales support, while expanding into areas such as digital learning, workplace technology and household electrical solutions.”

The event also featured a felicitation ceremony recognising institutions that have maintained longstanding business relationships with STC.

A total of 36 awards were presented to institutional customers, comprising eight Appreciation and Recognition Awards, 10 Overall Best Performer Awards, 10 Long Service Awards and eight Zonal Sales Excellence Awards.
