CDB Launches Private Wealth Proposition with World Mastercard Metal Credit Card

Citizens Development Business Finance PLC (CDB) has officially introduced its new CDB Private Wealth proposition, marking a significant expansion of its premium financial services for affluent and high-net-worth customers in Sri Lanka.

The proposition was launched during the CDB September Monthly Medal 2026, held on 11 and 12 September at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC). The event brought together members of Sri Lanka’s golfing and business communities while providing the setting for CDB to unveil its latest offering focused on personalised wealth management, premium financial solutions and exclusive lifestyle experiences.

At the centre of the new proposition is the CDB Private Wealth World Mastercard White Metal Credit Card, an exclusive payment solution created specifically for eligible CDB Private Wealth customers.

Designed to combine premium positioning with international usability, the White Metal Credit Card provides access to a selection of travel, lifestyle and payment privileges, reinforcing CDB’s focus on delivering a differentiated experience to its affluent customer segment.

A key moment during the launch was the presentation of the first CDB Private Wealth World Mastercard White Metal Credit Card to Mahela Jayawardene, former Sri Lanka cricket captain and Captain of the Royal Colombo Golf Club.

The card was presented by Mahesh Nanayakkara, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CDB, officially marking the introduction of the new Private Wealth proposition.

The presentation also highlighted CDB’s emphasis on recognising achievement and creating personalised experiences for customers seeking premium financial and lifestyle solutions.

CDB introduces a new approach to wealthcare

CDB Private Wealth has been developed around the individual financial goals, priorities and lifestyles of affluent and high-net-worth customers.

At the heart of the proposition is the philosophy “The Art of Wealthcare”, which reflects CDB’s approach to wealth management as a relationship that extends beyond conventional financial products.

Through this proposition, CDB aims to combine personalised financial solutions, dedicated relationship management, priority services and exclusive lifestyle experiences to create a more comprehensive experience for eligible customers.

The approach recognises that customers with significant wealth can have different financial objectives, investment priorities and lifestyle requirements. CDB Private Wealth is therefore designed to provide a more personalised level of engagement based on individual needs.

Eligible customers can access a range of benefits through the proposition, including the CDB Private Wealth World Mastercard White Metal Credit Card, selected promotions and offers, concierge services, dedicated customer support and unlimited airport lounge access worldwide, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

The combination of financial services and lifestyle benefits forms a central part of CDB’s strategy for its premium customer segment.

CDB and Mastercard introduce premium White Metal Credit Card

The CDB Private Wealth World Mastercard White Metal Credit Card represents one of the key features of the new proposition.

The card has been developed in collaboration with Mastercard, bringing together CDB’s Private Wealth proposition with Mastercard’s international payment network and premium services.

According to Mastercard, the card is Sri Lanka’s first World Mastercard Metal Credit Card issued by a non-banking financial institution (NBFI).

The premium metal card has been designed for affluent and high-net-worth customers, offering international acceptance alongside a selection of travel, lifestyle and rewards-related benefits.

Among the privileges available to eligible cardholders are complimentary airport lounge access, enhanced rewards on local and international spending and access to Mastercard Travel & Lifestyle Services, subject to the relevant terms and conditions.

The launch therefore represents a collaboration between CDB and Mastercard aimed at providing customers with a combination of premium financial services, payment convenience and lifestyle benefits.

CDB highlights personalised customer relationships

Speaking about the launch, Mahesh Nanayakkara, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CDB, said the Private Wealth proposition represents an important development in the way the company engages with affluent and high-net-worth customers.

He highlighted the philosophy of “The Art of Wealthcare”, noting that wealth is personal and that customers have different ambitions, priorities and lifestyles.

Nanayakkara also described the presentation of the first CDB Private Wealth World Mastercard White Metal Credit Card to Mahela Jayawardene as a significant milestone for the company.

The proposition is expected to bring together dedicated relationship management, tailored financial solutions and exclusive privileges, with CDB focusing on building long-term relationships with customers.

Mastercard also highlighted the significance of the collaboration.

Mahesha Amarasuriya, Country Manager for Sri Lanka at Mastercard, said the company was pleased to work with CDB to introduce the country’s first World Mastercard Metal Credit Card issued by an NBFI.

According to Mastercard, the offering combines the premium design of a metal card with global Mastercard acceptance, security features and curated travel, lifestyle and rewards benefits.

The collaboration also provides access to Mastercard Travel & Lifestyle Services, while the CDB Private Wealth proposition adds a personalised relationship-management component to the overall offering.

CDB Private Wealth launch coincides with September Monthly Medal

The launch took place alongside the CDB September Monthly Medal 2026, which brought together more than 300 golfers for two days of competition and networking at the Royal Colombo Golf Club.

Players competed across several categories during the tournament, which combined competitive golf with hospitality and opportunities for members of the golfing and business communities to connect.

Shiromal Fernando emerged as the Overall Nett winner, recording an impressive score of 62 Nett.

The tournament provided a natural platform for the launch of CDB Private Wealth, bringing together a community that reflects many of the values associated with the new proposition, including achievement, excellence, relationships and long-term connections.

CDB’s partnership with RCGC enters its third year

The relationship between CDB and the Royal Colombo Golf Club has now entered its third year.

While initially established around sporting sponsorship, the partnership has developed into a broader platform for engagement with the golfing and business community.

The latest CDB September Monthly Medal provided another opportunity for the two organisations to bring together professionals, business leaders and members of the golfing community in an environment centred around competition, networking and shared experiences.

For CDB, the setting also aligned closely with the positioning of its Private Wealth proposition, which focuses on customers who value personalised service, achievement and premium experiences.

The Art of Wealthcare

The philosophy behind CDB Private Wealth is built around the idea that managing wealth involves understanding the individual behind the financial portfolio.

Under “The Art of Wealthcare”, CDB aims to provide customers with financial expertise while also focusing on personalised attention, priority access and lifestyle-related benefits.

This approach extends the relationship beyond individual financial products, positioning wealth management as an ongoing journey that evolves alongside a customer’s changing ambitions and requirements.

Through dedicated relationship management, eligible customers can receive support designed around their broader financial needs while also gaining access to premium services and experiences.

The introduction of the White Metal Mastercard adds another layer to this proposition by combining everyday and international payment capabilities with selected premium privileges.

A new chapter for CDB’s premium banking experience

The launch of CDB Private Wealth marks a new chapter in CDB’s efforts to create differentiated financial solutions for its premium customer segment.

By combining wealth management expertise, personalised relationship management, premium payment services and lifestyle privileges, CDB is positioning its Private Wealth offering as an integrated experience for affluent and high-net-worth customers.

The partnership with Mastercard further expands the proposition through access to an international payment network and premium travel and lifestyle services.

Meanwhile, the presentation of the first card to Mahela Jayawardene at the Royal Colombo Golf Club provided a symbolic launch moment for the new proposition, connecting CDB’s focus on premium customer experiences with a community built around achievement and distinction.

As CDB continues to expand its financial services portfolio, the introduction of Private Wealth represents another step in its efforts to respond to the evolving expectations of Sri Lankan customers seeking more personalised and premium financial solutions.
