Drive transaction banking transformation and excellence powered by FinnAxia
Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB) and Nucleus Software, a leading global provider of lending and transaction banking solutions, recently commemorated five years of successful collaboration at a gala event held at ITC Ratnadipa, Colombo.
The milestone celebrates a partnership that began when HNB selected FinnAxia, Nucleus Software’s flagship transaction banking platform, as a key component of its long-term digital transformation strategy and corporate banking modernisation programme.
Since its implementation in 2021, FinnAxia has played a significant role in enhancing HNB’s transaction banking capabilities, helping the bank deliver a seamless and integrated digital experience for corporate customers. The platform supports a wide range of services, including vendor payments, payroll management, bill settlements, receivables, API banking, host-to-host connectivity, and cross-border transactions.
In addition, the solution provides comprehensive management information systems (MIS) and customer relationship insights, offering businesses convenient access to account statements, loan information, term deposit details, and other essential banking services through a unified digital platform.
The partnership has enabled HNB to strengthen operational agility, accelerate service delivery, and adapt more effectively to evolving customer expectations in an increasingly digital banking landscape.
Today, FinnAxia supports more than 3,000 active users daily, underscoring its widespread adoption, reliability, and growing importance within HNB’s transaction banking ecosystem.
The platform facilitates straight-through processing across LankaPay payment networks, including CEFT, SLIPS, and RTGS, while also enabling LPOPP electronic bill payments for institutions such as ASYCUDA, EPF, and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.
With the recent integration of ETF services, HNB’s corporate clients now benefit from an even more comprehensive transaction banking experience, accessing a broad suite of payment and banking solutions through a single digital platform.
Commenting on the achievement, HNB Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Damith Pallewatte said the partnership has been instrumental in strengthening the bank’s leadership position within Sri Lanka’s transaction banking sector.
“Over the past five years, our collaboration with Nucleus Software has enabled HNB to deliver a modern, digital-first banking experience while enhancing operational efficiency, supporting business growth, and driving innovation. As customer expectations continue to evolve, we remain committed to investing in technologies and capabilities that create lasting value for our clients and contribute to the broader economy,” he said.
Nucleus Software Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Parag Bhise noted that the partnership demonstrates the impact of combining innovative technology with a shared vision for transformation.
“We are delighted to celebrate this important milestone with HNB. The success of our partnership reflects strong collaboration, effective execution, and a commitment to delivering meaningful outcomes for customers. HNB has demonstrated how technology, leadership, and agility can work together to transform transaction banking, and we look forward to supporting the bank’s continued growth and innovation in the years ahead,” he said.
The project’s success has also received industry recognition, earning the Silver Award for Best Managed Project at the Project Management Excellence Awards 2023, highlighting the scale and impact of the transformation initiative.
The anniversary celebration brought together senior leaders from both organisations to reflect on a journey built on trust, innovation, and shared ambition. As HNB and Nucleus Software look toward the future, both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the next generation of transaction banking solutions, focused on customer-centric innovation, operational excellence, digital agility, and sustainable growth.
